The Student Guidance and Counseling Committee at the Applied College - Female Branch - organized its orientation meeting for new female students for the first semester at the college building on Thursday, 8th of Safar 1445 AH, corresponding to August 24th, 2023. The program included various segments presented by committee member Dr. In'am Mustafa. The meeting began with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. The program also included:
The Executive Director of the Applied College - Female Branch, Dr. Shaimaa Al-Maliki, delivered a speech in which she welcomed the students and all attendees. She spoke about the establishment of the college and its transformation into an applied college. She encouraged the students to pursue education and emphasized the importance of self-learning for university students. She also highlighted the significance of utilizing all opportunities provided by the university to achieve high academic excellence and personal growth.
The Chairperson of the Student Guidance and Counseling Committee, Ms. Noha Al-Ameen, provided an overview of the committee and explained the concept of student guidance and its importance in supporting the academic and social journey of university students. She discussed the roles and responsibilities of a counselor and explained how students can access counseling services through the portal and various communication channels.
This was followed by speeches from the program coordinators at the college:
Dr. Nandi Abu Al-Ala, Coordinator of the Department of Administrative Sciences, provided a clear overview of the department, including the academic years, programs offered, and the professional certifications associated with each program. She explained how students can obtain these certifications and emphasized the importance of student guidance.
Dr. Ibtisam Mansour, representing Dr. Salwa El-Wazir, the Coordinator of the Information Systems Department, provided extensive information about the department, the programs it offers, the curriculum plans, professional certifications, and everything related to the department.
Then, Dr. Ibtisam Mansour provided a detailed explanation of the electronic services available through the portal, including the academic system, the Blackboard system, and other relevant systems that are important for students. She explained how students can access information through the student guide and instructional presentations available on the portal.
Finally, the session presenter provided an opportunity for the students to ask questions. The Executive Director and faculty members provided comprehensive and detailed responses to all the questions and inquiries raised by the students. The meeting also included a PowerPoint presentation and group discussions, where the attendees actively engaged and interacted with the program segments.
